N&V Contribution Update

Sharing Articles and Notices with News & Views

We are changing the way we handle articles and notices submitted to News & Views.

The monthly newsletter will continue as an important part of how we share local information, and we will continue to include contributors’ articles in each monthly issue. However, contributors, clubs and local organisations will now also have the opportunity to send their reports, updates and notices to us before the monthly publication deadline.

Where possible, these submissions will be published on the website as soon as they have been received and prepared for publication. The article or notice can then be repeated, updated or edited for inclusion in the next monthly newsletter.

To support this, we have created links on the website homepage to dedicated pages for regular contributors, clubs and organisations, and it is operational now. These pages will provide a central place where readers can find monthly articles, reports, announcements and notices of forthcoming events.

Where possible, we intend to retain the most recent three months of entries on these pages. This will allow readers to look back at recent information while ensuring that the pages remain current and useful.

This change is not intended to replace the monthly publication, it's there to enhance it. The printed and online monthly newsletter will continue, and contributors’ articles will still be included in the regular monthly edition.

Instead, the website pages will provide an additional way for contributors to share information with readers in real time. It means that reports do not necessarily have to wait until the next monthly issue before they can be seen, and notices about forthcoming events can be shared while they are still timely and useful.

We hope this will make it easier for clubs, organisations and regular contributors to keep readers informed throughout the month, while continuing to support the monthly News & Views publication that brings the wider community’s news together in one place.
