THE FREE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR
PAPWORTH EVERARD

A Brief History and Recent Developments

“For more than 50 years, the News & Views — under various guises — has been a familiar presence in Papworth Everard, continually evolving to serve the needs of the local community.”

In January 2006, Papworth Everard Parish Council appointed Janet and Peter Dobson—who now operate under Pendrill Publications—to take over the production and publishing of this local newsletter

Under their stewardship, the publication became a full-colour A4 monthly newsletter, delivered to as many homes in the parish as possible.

To ensure that the Parish Council, along with local clubs, groups, and organisations, could share information and promote events, the Council continued its long-standing financial contribution to the News & Views, just as it had done with previous editors and publishers. This partnership worked effectively for two decades.

However, in October 2025, the then current Parish Council unexpectedly withdrew its funding without consultation or prior notice to the village or even Pendrill Publications. It is believed this decision may have been influenced by the newsletter’s willingness to publish letters from residents expressing concerns about the Council’s actions, lack of communication and priorities.

Despite this setback, News & Views has continued to operate independently. Drawing on many years of experience and now using methods first developed during the Covid period.

The team has maintained production and distribution of the A4 newsletter, ensuring that residents of Papworth Everard still receive their valued community publication. The whole team remains committed to making decisions that ensure the newsletter’s continued presence and relevance within the village, while utilising the power of the internet to strengthen and expand both the printed publication and now an informative website.

Update – June 2026

The elections in May 2026 brought about a new Parish Council with its full complement of 13 members. This presents a valuable opportunity for PEPC and N&V to review the available options, and discussions between the new PEPC and N&V will take place over the coming weeks to determine the best approach for the future.

We will keep you posted

Moving Forward Together - July 2026

News & Views is evolving. While we're proud to continue our monthly printed edition — staying true to the roots that have served Papworth Everard so well — we're also building a fully featured website to meet the needs of a changing community.

This is an exciting time for the future of News & Views. To grow our content and reach more local advertisers, a strong online presence is essential. We know the heart of News & Views has always been keeping parishioners informed about village events — what's coming up and what's already happened — and we absolutely recognise that not everyone has access to or wants online content. That's why we're committed to offering both: a viable solution that works across multiple platforms, so everyone can stay connected in the way that suits them best.

Whether you pick up your copy in print or read it online, News & Views remains your trusted source for local stories,, community life, upto date events plus local and national advertising

BUT IT NEEDS TO MODERNISE - and with your help that is what we are committed to do.
